Shawn

Founder & Head Instructor

Shawn has been teaching swimming since 1986, beginning at the age of 16. From the very start, helping children develop confidence and skills in the water quickly became his passion.

In 1994, at just 24 years of age, Shawn founded Shawn’s Swim School with two staff members and 40 students.

Over the past four decades, the school has grown to a team of more than 50 staff and over 2,000 students. Despite this growth, Shawn is most proud of maintaining the welcoming, family-run atmosphere that has always been at the heart of the swim school.

After more than 30 years serving the Wyndham community, Shawn now has the privilege of teaching second-generation Shawn’s Swim School swimmers—the children of students he once taught as beginners.

Today, Shawn’s Swim School continues to build confident swimmers while remaining true to the community values it was founded on more than 30 years ago.

Corrie

Team Member & Community

Corrie joined Shawn’s Swim School in 1996 and has been an integral part of the team ever since. For nearly 30 years, she has built strong relationships with students and their families, helping to create the welcoming community atmosphere the swim school is known for.

Corrie has always had a passion for working with young children. She especially enjoys meeting the many wonderful families who come through the swim school, watching children grow in confidence in the water, and celebrating their progress along the way.

She is also our "chief fashion and purchasing officer", so if you have any questions regarding bathers, goggles, caps and sizing she is the expert.

Ella

Instructor & Reception

My favourite part of Shawn’s Swim School is how rewarding the job is. After taking a break to work full-time, I found myself craving a sense of fulfilment and the chance to make a real impact, which is one of the reasons I came back.

At Shawn’s, you’re not just a staff member, you’re family, which is one of the key pillars of the business.

I started out as a student learning to swim here, and now I’m proud to be part of the team, working in both teaching and reception.

Being able to help the next generation of swimmers grow in confidence and ability is incredibly rewarding.

One of the most special parts of the job is the connections you build with the students. Watching them progress, celebrating their achievements, and being part of their swimming journey makes the experience even more meaningful.

Sharon

Reception

Sharon has been part of Shawn’s Swim School since 1994, first joining as a parent in our babies program with her eldest child. She went on to enrol all four of her children through the program and has remained a valued member of our community ever since.

Her passion for swimming grew alongside her children, who progressed through our program to club, state, and national levels. This journey has given Sharon a deep and well-rounded understanding of swimming and swimmer development.

Today, Sharon is an integral part of our reception team, where she warmly welcomes students and their families each week. She takes great pride in building genuine connections and creating a positive, friendly experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

Sharon’s favourite part of her role is seeing swimmers start as babies or toddlers and watching them grow, develop, and eventually graduate from the program.

Laura

Baby Program Lead & Instructor

Laura has been part of Shawn’s Swim School since its very beginning, starting as a student when the school opened in 1994. Six years later, at just 16 years of age, she joined the team and has remained a valued staff member ever since.

With over 30 years of experience at the swim school, Laura is highly skilled in teaching all levels—from babies through to squad swimmers and adults. She currently leads our baby program, where her experience and nurturing approach help deliver outstanding results for our youngest swimmers.

Laura’s favourite part of her role is watching babies grow into confident, capable swimmers while enjoying every step of the journey. She also treasures the connections she builds with families, particularly when former students return as parents with their own children.

Donna

Senior Swimming Instructor

Donna first joined Shawn’s Swim School in 1995 as a parent, enrolling her 2.5-year-old daughter, Meghan—who later went on to teach at the swim school herself. Her son began lessons with us in 2000, and that same year Donna joined the team as an instructor. She has been a valued member of staff ever since.

Now in her 26th year of teaching, Donna is highly experienced across all levels, from babies through to squad swimmers and adults. Her passion lies in helping young swimmers develop confidence and skill in the water, while building strong relationships with their families.

Donna is especially proud to have taught many of our current instructors to swim and now work alongside them as colleagues, a testament to her lasting impact on generations of swimmers.
